1. Introduction
In this world-wide
competitive business activities, the organisations must utilise
their resources properly
in order to make supply chain management activities to be successful and
profitable .Therefore , supply chain management (SCM ) activities
has become a strategic
tool for companies to achieve their competitive advantage .
Many SCM activities
only focus on the information flow and material flow between
organisation and their suppliers. They do not have a holistic
approach of SCM
and give very little emphasis on such aspects as culture, quality, relationship
and processes .
It is therefore, necessary for
the organisation to develop a more comprehensive and holistic
SCM model which can help them
to improve and manage their supply
chain processes in order to achieve their Business Excellence.
2. Objective
This two-day programme aims to guide you to develop
a new SCM model which will help your organisation to manage
their supply
chain management in a systematic way. This new SCM model which
is enriched with Total Quality Management principles are in
a position to help companies to asses the performance of their
supply chains. It will also help the organisation to identify
the strength and weaknesses in supply chain management system
in order to improve their performance. Further the supply chain
management excellence index (a single measure) generated by
the
SCM model will help you to understand the usefulness of organisational
effectiveness.

Part - 1 Introduction:
Provides the supply chain management concepts and establishes
the need to develop a new supply chain management model which can help the
organisation to manage
their supply chain activities properly.
Part - 2 Quality Management & Business
Excellence
Discusses Total quality management (T.Q.M.) concepts and its
principles. Since Organisations uses T.Q.M. principles to achieve
Business Excellence
(B.E.)
it is essential to develop the linkage between T.Q.M. and B.E. in order
to enrich the existing Supply Chain Management (S.C.M.) model.
Part-3 Interface
between T.Q.M, B.E. and S.C.M.
Examines the interface between
Total Quality Management &Supply Chain Management
by providing detail comparison of the two concepts .It shows how the principles
of T.Q.M. should be able to enrich the existing S.C.M. model into a total
quality model for supply chain management activities .
Part - 4
Business Excellence for Supply Chain
Presents Kanji’s Business
Excellence model and incorporates T.Q.M.
principles and concepts to establish a new Supply Chain management
Excellence Model.
Part - 5 Validation & Reliability of S.C.M.
Provides some validation procedure using the data from the supply
chain activities
of some organisation and investigate the relationship between
the factors of the Supply Chain Management Excellence Model.
Part -6 Measuring S.C.M Excellence Index.
Describe the relationships
between the different constructs of Supply Chain Management and
the performance of the organisational
Supply Chain activities.
Some case studies will also be presented.
